Enrich your health, boost your performance Sometimes you just need a boost. If you exercise regularly, eat and sleep well, and generally follow a healthy lifestyle you can still go through periods when you just don’t have the energy you should. Or, if you’re suffering from illness, digestive issues or elevated stress, you might need some extra support so you can recover and heal. IV therapy delivers a liquid mixture of vitamins, minerals, electrolytes and amino acids to your system through an intravenous drip. The infusion is absorbed quickly and directly into your bloodstream, allowing greater uptake of the nutrients in your body than if you got them from food or supplements. Many factors can affect our body’s ability to absorb nutrients through our stomach including: Age Genetics Metabolism Current health status Physical and chemical properties of the food or supplement Interactions with other things we consume, such as food, alcohol or medications Many of the vitamins and nutrients taken through the drip can be taken orally but are metabolised and diminished as they pass through your digestive system. The absorption rate in your body can shrink by over 50% from what was ingested. IV therapy bypasses the digestive process to deliver substances directly to your bloodstream, with 90–100% of what you receive through the IV absorbed into your cells. How does IV therapy work? IVs are one of the most widely used treatments in modern medicine — patients have been receiving fluid and medication intravenously for over a century. Our IV therapies provide your body with essential vitamins, minerals and hydration directly through your bloodstream. It’s fast acting, as the nutrients are quickly absorbed by your cells to help your body heal. IV treatments are used to: Increase wellness. The body needs a certain amount of essential vitamins and minerals to perform its daily functions, but the demands of life can make it difficult to get these nutrients from diet alone. Prevent illness. Many factors can take a toll on your immune health, such as stress, lack of sleep and poor diet. As immune health decreases, you’re more susceptible to sickness. IV vitamin therapy strengthens your immune system by delivering the nutrients your body needs to keep invaders at bay. Improve athletic recovery and performance. Exercise exhausts your body, causing muscle fatigue and dehydration. IV therapy can be used for quick, efficient rehydration after an intense training session or an exhausting competition such as a marathon or triathlon. It quickly restores hydration and supplies the nutrients needed for noticeable gains, quick recovery and performance. IV therapy has proven to be very effective in aiding skin health, delivering skin-boosting nutrients in larger amounts and more quickly than any other method. It’s also a popular remedy for hangover relief, delivering immediate, effective hydration and a boost in vitamins. Frequently asked questions about IV therapy What can I expect at an IV appointment? At your appointment, the administering nurse practitioner (NP) will conduct an assessment with you to discuss why you’re seeking treatment. The assessment is typically completed in about 10 minutes so your nurse can select the best treatment from our range of IV therapy options. The NP will administer your prescribed IV drip, which takes approximately 30–40 minutes to be completed. All you have to do is sit back and relax. After your treatment is completed, the NP will discuss the frequency of treatment with you depending on your needs and goals. What’s in an IV bag? Our IVs are supplied by Farsk Health, an industry-leading pharmaceutical company that brings decades of medical knowledge of admixtures and clinical experience in their field. They have formulated a range of industry-leading IV treatments. IV bags consist of different vitamin mixtures, depending on the therapy it is providing. How quickly will I feel the benefits? Almost instantly. You should start to feel the effects between 30 minutes to 2 hours. How much does it cost? Is it covered by insurance? IV treatments cost between $150–$200 per session, depending on the IV bag required for treatment. Insurance coverage may be eligible under nurse practitioner diagnosis. Please check with your insurer for coverage information. At which location is IV therapy offered? IV therapy is only available at our Bells Corners location. What are the risks, if any? Even though our treatments are clinically tested, stability tested and meet the highest safety standards, everyone is unique and patients could experience the effects of the treatment differently. Unfortunately, even the safest, most studied and tested medical procedures can lead to complications. The following are general IV treatment complications that can occur: Pain or discomfort when puncturing the skin to administer the IV Failure to successfully place the IV catheter in the vein Need to switch to a different entrance site if the original attempt punctures the wall of the vein Bruising of the puncture area, which should dissipate on its own Blood clots in the superficial vein, which should dissolve on their own Infiltration of fluids from the IV solution through the wall of the vein into the surrounding area, which should be reabsorbed on its own Infection of the puncture area Inflammation of the vein used for injection, phlebitis, metabolic disturbances, and injury Possible allergic reactions to ingredients in the IV solution — your nurse practitioner will screen you for allergies before administering your drip Contact us today to book an IV therapy session Contact us today
