Myofascial Release Therapy

In this short video, you will see Dr. Sam Cooper working on one of our regular patients and competitive bodybuilder. You will see Dr. Cooper begins the session by treating this patient with muscle/myofascial release therapy, a form of hands-on treatment that helps release tension, break up knots, scar tissue, and provide relief.

Dr. Cooper then moves on to perform some proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation stretching techniques to help loosen and relax the muscles around the joints and spine he will be manipulating.

PNF stretching is an advanced form of stretching which involves stretching the intended muscle group; followed by contracting those muscles against negative force (such as flexing your quadriceps while the therapist pushes against it), then further stretching those muscles. You will immediately notice an increase in flexibility and range of motion. PNF stretching is one of, if not the most effective stretching technique for improved range of motion and flexibility.

He then finishes off the session with some spinal manipulation to help re-align this patient’s spine, pelvis, and hip. If a patient does not enjoy hands-on manipulation, Dr. Cooper would then use our handheld CAT adjuster to gently re-align the discs back in their proper position.

This was one of our 45 minutes treatment appointment options. By booking a 45 minutes treatment session, it allowed Dr. Cooper to provide a full and effective treatment, with multiple methods to ensure this patient walked out with increased range of motion, flexibility, reduced pain, and allowing his body to function optimally in order for more effective training sessions in the gym.

Many individuals’ associate Chiropractic treatments with just neck/back cracking, but that does not have to be the case. At EWC, we take our time working with all our patients, and if we require 45 minutes to properly treat you, we will make sure that we book that time for you. If you require less, we book less. No tricks, no gimmicks, and you do not have to commit and pre-pay for a treatment package. Dr. Cooper goes beyond just treating back and neck pain, but extends his expertise to concussions, shoulder pain, ankle pain, knee pain, and much more.
